Arazzo is the first work of a series which owns its form to the pictorial aesthetic. Molded from a concrete plinth, a crinkled metallic mesh functions as canvas to a dripping mixture of concrete, marble powder and paint.
The supporting structure and the resulting constellation of paint are entwined but are able to exist on their own: the arazzo can be disjointed, the framework from art becomes object, the paint acquires a newfound shape.
Toying with beauty and function, Arazzo pays tribute to the tradition that forged the very technique: it narrates a story of metamorphosis and becoming while revisiting a historically informed practice.
